I was born in the Vale of Clwyd and am not only proud to have served the constituency since 1997 but I am also proud to call it my home. I believe we live in one of the most beautiful and historic areas of the country and have no hesitation in singing its praises wherever I am.

I was educated in Rhyl and returned from university to teach at Ysgol Mair Primary School where I was deputy headteacher until I was elected as Vale of Clwyd MP in 1997.

The World Health Organisation has stated that by 2030 the biggest health burden on the whole of the planet will not be heart disease or cancer; it will be depression. The term “burden” is not a pejorative but a descriptive term for the burden on the individual, their family, society and the economy.
